Building Regulations Advisory Committee (BRAC)
The Building Regulations Advisory Committee (BRAC) is a statutory advisory public body established to advise the Secretary of State relating to building regulations and setting standards for designing and constructing buildings.
BRAC is sponsored by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government but is categorised as non-departmental. The 19-person membership of BRAC is made up of independent volunteers, appointed on the basis on their experience and expertise in the construction industry. Members serve a 3-year term and can serve a maximum of three terms.
Some of the issues that BRAC may be consulted on include:
- Health and safety.
- Welfare and convenience.
- Energy conservation.
- Building sustainability.
